Mary Poppins Review The Wales Millennium Centre

Dazzling, spellbinding and simply quite magical, Mary Poppins has landed in Cardiff.

This Christmas treat yourself to a trip down Cherry Tree Lane and experience that magic of Mary Poppins.
Everyone's favourite Nanny is back at The Wales Millennium Centre for the festive season enchanting audiences of all ages. The props and special effects are superb, you'll be amazed as the sets manoeuvre and change before your very eyes. The cast is exceptional especially the children playing Jane and Michael Banks, both deliver fantastic performances. Zizi Strallen steps into the iconic role of Mary and puts on a performance that could only be described as practically perfect in every way.
This production is slightly darker than the film which makes an old story seem quite new. The big numbers are sang brilliantly and personal highlight had to be 'Feed The Birds', pure perfection.
Mary Poppins is a story that will never tire, it will simply enchant and remind you of the magic you felt the first time you watched it, be it film or stage it's a story that will lift your spirits and fill you with joy.

Mary Poppins is performing at The Millennium Centre up until January 14th

Priscilla Queen Of The Desert at The Princess Royal Theatre Port Talbot

Big, Brash and Beautiful and that's just the bus!
The most fabulous bus in the world parks up at The Princess Royal Theatre in Port Talbot for five nights of outrageous fun.
We all know the story, three Drag Queens travelling across Australia in a bus called Priscilla. As musicals go this has it all, it's over the top, it's bursting with pop hits, it has enough comedy you'll be crying with laughter and enough sentiment to make you cry some more but for the majority of the show you'll be laughing and wishing you was on that stage singing along.  The Port Talbot & District Amateur Operatic Society deserve huge applause for this production, the enthusiasm and dedication to this performance was overwhelming. Huge performances from Carlton Gronow, Heflin Carwyn Rosser and Joe Crabbe who play the iconic roles of Tick, Felicia & Bernadette. Their onstage chemistry is fantastic and they provide most of the shows comedy. Everything about this production is BIG, the s…

Bernard Poyser | A Great Cardiffian

Just like everyone that knew Bernard Poyser we was devastated to hear of his sudden passing this month. Bernard was a great supporter of any event we was involved in, along with his wife Sandra and daughter Mel he volunteered every year at The Great Roath Bake Off and attended every RoathRocks gig. It was only a month ago he attended Nathan's  exhibition in the city centre, causing chaos as he manoeuvred his mobility scooter in the small exhibition area. Bernie was the life and soul of the party, always telling jokes and always laughing. We will miss the laughs, we will miss the jokes and the singing, your tales of the swinging sixties often had us in shock but always hysterics. This month we honour our friend The Cardiff Times Cardiffian Of The Month.

Bernard married Sandra in 1967 and they had Melanie and Christian in the early 70s. They lived in Roath for 44 years. (He grew up in Llanishen).
Bernard was a motor mechanic by trade.  He started working at J Sherlock and Son, Roath…
